Week 5 and 6 - Stephanie

Well it's been a little crazy as most of you can say the same I am sure! But the last few weeks have been extremely exciting and full of all sorts of fun. For my 20th Birthday I completed the 10 k mud run and it was FANTASTIC! Best time ever, but it would have been better if I had a team that did it with me. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone next year. Even if you are not "in shape". If you can run a mile, you can do this! But with birthday treats and all that was my downfall, also missing days as for my training so I could rest 2 days leading up to the race.
...Oh and the other major fall in "treats"...my best friend, Willy recently came back from Afghanistan where he was deployed for a year. While he was gone I went off of soda and that week was the official: HE IS HOME! Not that I obsessively drink soda, but just because I now could, I did.
Week 5: 20

Week 6: 21

And that is my update:)
P.S. KElSEY: We really do need to start going to the gym in the morning again.

Week 6 Kelsey

Well I have my points for last week at home, but this week I did a lot better... (besides eating 4...yes, 4 cinnamon rolls yesterday during conference...BIG ones too. Best day of my life)
I got 22 points with the bonus point, so 23 total.
I'm such a slacker at exercise....STEPHANIE we need to go!
Anybody have some good motivation?

Week 5 & Week 6-Catherine

Wow! I can't believe I missed posting last week. I definitely could've used that extra point!

Week 5: 21

Week 6: 20+1 for posting=21. Conference weekend is all about the sweets, right? I definitely garbaged out this weekend. Oops. Oh well.

This Just In!

I am in between classes so this will be short and sweet, but I just had to document...
I just turned in my final application for GRADUATION!
and Fall break is right around the corner.
If I survive the next three days, I'll be on a plane to California where my heart is.

More soon.
Promise.

Week 4-Catherine

22+1=23. BLAH!!! Treats and sleep always get me! However, I have done better with the treats and I defer to peaches or smoothies..mmm. And this week I'm going to be super good about getting sleep...hopefully.

Kristin week 4

This week was worse than last. I'm struggling. Missed exercise 3 days. Ate treats a ton. I missed washing my face last night. I've got to do better this week, but I really just don't want to try. 18+1= 19 for me. I'll see if I can find some motivation somewhere.

Week 2, 3, and 4!

Hey guys guess what?? I'm ALIVE and still playing :) Not winning at all, but I'm trying. Week 2: 20 points. Week 3: 16 points. Aaaand this week (4): 16 points, 1 bonus = 17 total.
I absolutely cannot let go of my treats. Last weekend I went up to my brothers house. They took me out to dinner and took me to the best ice cream joint in Logan, so who can turn that down?! With the Holy War yesterday also, my weekends were shot. I'm going to do better this week I swear.
P.S. The reason I suck at posting is because Mondays are out of control for me. I go to work, then school for one class, then back to work, then straight to school again. So I'm going to try to post on Sundays from now on.
GO BABES!.............and Utes:) 54-10.

Week 3 Stephanie

Same as last week 21+1= 22 points.
And I am feeling it, blah!
Need to improve to feel better:)

Week 3-Catherine

23 + 1 (on time) = 24.

Meh. I can do better.

Kristin Week 3

This week totally stunk!!!! I ate treats every day. I missed exercise on one day. So 21 pts total for me. I feel like a fatty. I'm going to try to be better this week, although I'm not starting off too well. My little girl turns 3 today, so we're having cake and ice cream. Hopefully I'll be back on the wagon tomorrow.

Week 2- Stephanie

This was by far the worst week I will have. Still kind of in summer mode I suppose. This week I went to bed way too late and didn't get most of my 7 hours of sleep. I also slacked on my workout, hope this doesn't kill my race training.
But this week I will be completely committed to doing what I have set myself to do. I owe myself that much.
21+1 for posting on time
22 points

kristin week 2

this week was worse for me. I caved and garbaged one day. had a treat another and ate after 8 another day. My face feels great. I feel better, but the scale hasn't budged one bit, it's a bit discouraging. I'm just hoping I'm building muscle, then it will start to come off. Hoping this week will be a better one. I got 24 +1. So 25 total for me this week.

Week 2-Catherine

This week seemed a lot better than last week...

24+1 (for posting on time!) = 25

I couldn't help but have a Hire's chocolate malt shake after Utah's win on Thursday!!

I feel good and my clothes are fitting better!

Week 1 Stephanie

Have to make this quick to make it at 5:00 on the dot:)
I got 25 points this week, which includes my bonus for on time haha.
Definately room for improvement.

Week 1-Catherine.

23.

 Lame.

I garbaged out twice. Missed some sleep and exercise in there.

Oh well, I WILL do better this next week!!

Think happy and be happy this week!!

Week 1 Kelsey

I'm being a rebel and posting during my drawing class...shh.... so I'll quickly say that I got 21 points plus the bonus point, so 22 points total. It was a crappy week. Treats won.

Week 1 Kristin

This week was a tough one. I wanted treats EVERY DAY!!! It took everything in me to say no. I feel strong today. 28 pts + 1 bonus for posting on time, total points this week 29 points.
All in all a good week. I love that I exercised every day even with Jared teaching seminary in the early morning. And my skin feels F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.!! It's amazing what washing it each day does. How come I waited so long to do that?? Great week, ready for another.

Motivation

GUYS GUYS GUYS! Last night I was basically dragging myself to the gym. But right as I turned my car on, THIS song came on. Take a listen if you don't want to go work out. It will make you want to. Especially because of how great this video is.

Kristin

I'm the oldest of all of you that have joined so far. I am married, have 3 kids and live in Kansas. We moved to Kansas so my husband could attend law school. He finished about a year ago and has been practicing here in Kansas since. He started teaching early morning seminary about a year ago, that combined with me being YW pres (and all the treats in YW), I've gained. I'm a stay at home mom. My purpose in doing this is go get myself back in order. I want to have control of my life, it's hard to take some time for me.

My personal goal is to not eat after 8pm. I think this will help a lot. I'm also going to try to wash my face each night. This may sound stupid, but I need to do it.

I'm already sore from working out yesterday. I did some weights and I can definitely feel it today. Also yesterday was the first day without treats in..I can't remember the last time I didn't have treats.

I'm determined this year not to gain another 10 lbs. I'm going to lose the 10 I gained last year and feel good about myself again.

Let's go babes!! I'm ready!!!

Catherine.

I'm so excited to be part of this challenge! When Kelsey told me about it, I knew it was something I needed to do. I'm in my third year at the U, studying Speech Pathology, I'm working 20 hours a week, and I have a lot of other things I'm involved with. SO...with a really busy schedule this semester, it will be good for me to do some little things to take care of myself. It will be good to focus on eating healthy, getting good rest, exercising, and for my personal goal, I will be reading The Book of Mormon in 100 Days and in my reading, focusing on three qualities I want to develop.

Surprisingly, I was able to get 7 hours of sleep last night. Today, I walked around campus for thirty minutes during my four hour break and I read my scriptures during that break too! Before class, my friend, Jessi, and I went out to lunch to Cafe Zupas. I was really good to take the chocolate off of my chocolate covered strawberry that comes with your meal and I got an all-fruit smoothie from Jamba Juice... but then after my afternoon class, I cracked and grabbed a Laffy Taffy from the institute desk. So that's no point for me today!

So I'm off to a somewhat good start and I'm excited to read all about what YOU girls are doing to bring out the inner babe!

Emily

I am so excited to be part of the 10 Buck Babe Challenge! I love challenges, especially when I've got a great support system right there with me!

I'm starting my Senior year at the U and at the same time starting a new position within the company I've been working at. Life is about to get very interesting!

I am really good at focusing on others before myself. I seldom find time for myself, therefore, I am so excited to start this challenge, and do something for myself!

I'm going to find time daily for the gym, healthy eating, reading my scriptures, and time for studying. I often make up excuses as to why I cannot do any of the above said things due to timing. Now I'll have no excuses- I gotta get my daily points!!

Best of luck, Babes!

Stephanie

I am doing this challenge because during the summer Kelsey and I had the wonderful plan to work out all the time. She introduced me to this new gym ( I even signed up for a membership!) And guess what happened? We never went again:( We did have our fun going and playing volleyball and doing other fun activities, after all it is summer, but with the school year settling in, I need to focus again.
I have started a new healthy lifestyle by getting into running. In less than a month I will complete not only my first 10k but a 10k mud run. This working out every day will be great to help me train for it. After all, I didn't gain the freshman 15 thankfully, but I am also hoping for a slimmer soph:)
I know we all have room for improvement on this, as many have made it their personal goals already, but I am joining in. I want to read The Book of Mormon through twice before this is over. I have been feeling like I need to refill my oil lately.
Can't wait to start this challenge. I have felt the need for a complete lifestyle makeover and what a better way to start than with a little competition and support from friends!

¡Buena suerte chicas!

Kelsey

I'm doing this challenge because I feel like a lazy butt and I need a little motivation. School is starting tomorrow and I thought it would be a perfect time to revive the babe challenge. The first time I did it, I noticed that I planned out my days better and I was able to get more done and I felt better.
My idea of a good eating day is basically no treats. That will be hard enough for me....I am kinda maybe sorta addicted to soda. So I'm going to eat breakfast every day (breakfast, not Oreos and a Dr. Pepper on the way out the door) and not snack in between meals.
My personal goal is to read my scriptures every day for 20-30 minutes. Thanks to my good motivated friend Stephanie, I'll be going to the gym [way too] early in the morning before work, and that way I'll have time to go to the gym for an hour, come home read my scriptures and have enough time to get ready. Let's just hope I can actually get out of my bed every morning.

Let's go babes!

And so it begins.....

Alright Babes, the second annual Ten Buck Babe Challenge begins on Monday, August 22nd and will go until November 14th which is a total of 12 weeks. We're all babes, but sometimes it gets hidden when we don't take time for ourselves. It's time to unleash that inner babe you know is there.

Here are the rules:

1. Unleash 10 bucks into the pot. Winner takes all.

2. BE HONEST. Cheaters never win and winners never cheat. We'll still love you if you don't make it to the gym or have a bowl of ice cream before you go to sleep, so just be honest.

3. Keep track of your points! You can earn up to 4 points a day, 28 points a week.
Point 1: Get 7 hours of sleep.
Point 2: Be active/exercise 5 days a week. For the other two days, you get your exercise points by doing something fun (Saturday or Friday) and going to church (Sunday, der).
Point 3: Personal Goal. This can be anything you want, but it must be measurable! (Drinking 64 oz of water each day, eating 5 veggies, reading sciptures, washing your face, anything that can be measured.)
Point 4: Good eating day/no treats. There is a fine line between what is a treat and what isn't, but use your best judgement and you can decide for yourself. BUT we do get one treat a week without losing any points (you pick the day you want it).
Treat Point Breakdown:
No treats = 1 point
1 treat (palm size) = 0 points
Garbage Out (more than a palm size treat) = -1 point. Notice the negative.

4. Post your points every Monday by 5:00 Mountain Time (for those of use Mid-Westerners)
Posting on time gets you 1 bonus point per week.

5. Be prepared to unleash that INNER BABE!

Before we start on Monday, publish a post telling us about yourself and why you joined this contest. Tell us your definition of a good eating day, and let us in on your personal goal.
